How to use alcohol essence? ›

How do I use Spirit Essences/Flavourings? Simply follow the instructions on the product; all this entails is adding the flavouring directly to your spirit in the prescribed quantity and giving it a mix - that's it! Looking for something a bit more creative than simply adding spirit essences?

If using blueberries or other small berries, we suggest crushing these lightly to increase surface area and extract more flavour and colour from the fruit. Drop the fruit/spices into the jars, then top up with neutral spirit or vodka at 40% ABV.

For the best results, use your treatment essence in the morning and evening. Place a few drops of it into your palm after cleansing and toning. Gently apply the treatment essence onto your face and neck, allowing the liquid to absorb into your skin.

Everclear is a brand name of rectified spirit (also known as grain alcohol and neutral spirit) produced by the American company Luxco (formerly known as the David Sherman Corporation, and since 2021 a subsidiary of MGP Ingredients).

Every time the spirit is distilled it becomes more pure - attains a higher average ABV% - so rather than the average strength being at 70% ABV, as in double distillation, triple distillation will produce a spirit which is closer to 80% ABV. This also then has an impact on flavour.

Hard cider, mead, or even fruit wine, are all very easy to do. In all cases you need yeast, a vessel with an air lock, and water.
