UPDATE: The iPhone 15 launches today! See our iPhone 15 event live blog for all the latest Apple event news.
The iPhone 15’s launch date is here, with the September Apple Event happening later today (September 12). The closer we get to a big phone launch, the more we tend to learn about what it’ll have to offer — and so far the iPhone 15 series has been no exception.
The screen is arguably one of the most important parts of a smartphone, and its size can be a point of contention among many people. Some people love a large screen, others want them to be as small as physically possible, and those diehard screen fans are no doubt wondering what sized displays Apple may have in store for us.
Here’s everything we know about iPhone 15 screen sizes so far, as well as any other changes Apple may be implementing this year.
iPhone 15 screen sizes: iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
From the sounds of things, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus display are said to be mostly unchanged compared to the displays we got on their iPhone 14 counterparts. That means we can expect screens measuring 6.1-inches on the iPhone 15 and 6.7-inches on the iPhone 15 Plus.
The major change on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is the rumored inclusion of the Dynamic Island — which debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max last year. If that rumor proves true, it means the iPhone 15 will finally ditch the notch in favor of dual cutouts for the camera and Face ID sensors.
While that won’t change the size of the screen in any way, it may feel like you have more space up there. Not only are the Dynamic Island cutouts much smaller than a proper notch, the nature of Dynamic Island means it can expand to offer a bunch of extra functionality a notch just wasn't capable of.
There are rumors that the iPhone 15 could get curved edges, rather than the straight-edge affair of the last few years. While this isn’t likely to make much difference to the size of the screen, it does mean you may not be able to use the same cases as the iPhone 14.
iPhone 15 screen sizes: iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
Much like their cheaper counterparts, we’re not expecting any discernible difference in the size of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max screen sizes. That means we’re likely to see a 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus.
While the Pro series iPhones already have a Dynamic Island, there is another upgrade coming in the form of a new screen manufacturing process. Low-injection pressure over-molding, also known as LIPO, first appeared on the Apple Watch 7, and enables Apple to slim down display bezels without increasing the size of the phone itself.
Word is that the iPhone 15 Pro series bezels will shrink from 2.2 millimeters to around 1.5 millimeters (0.086 inches to 0.059 inches). However this change isn’t likely to make any meaningful change to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max’s screen size.
Again the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could see the straight-edged design replaced by a curvier look. That’s on top of other rumored design changes, like repositioned power and volume buttons and a brand new solid state action button — which is said to replace the mute switch on this year’s Pro models.
iPhone 15 screen sizes: What’s happening next year?
While there seems to be no meaningful change to the size of this year’s iPhones, next year might be a different story. While the number of iPhone 16 rumors are few and far between, we have been hearing some murmurs about the kinds of upgrades Apple will have to offer next year — some of which suggest we may see some size differences compared to the iPhone 15.
So far word is that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will remain the same size, byut the Pro iPhone 16 Pro and IPhone 16 Pro Max may be going through a growth spurt. So far rumors can’t quite decide how much bigger the phones might be — just that there will be a small increase in size. Ming-Chi Kuo says both devices will be “slightly larger” while Mark Gurman believes the devices will only grow by “a couple tenths of an inch diagonally”.
Ross Young claims put an actual number on the rumor, claiming we’ll see a 6.2-inch iPhone 16 Pro and a 6.8-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max. On top of that, Unknownz21 claimed that the phones will be 6.3-inch and 6.9-inches in size, respectively.

Insights, advice, suggestions, feedback and comments from experts
As an expert and enthusiast, I have personal experiences or beliefs, but I can provide you with information on various topics. Let's discuss the concepts mentioned in this article.
iPhone 15 Screen Sizes
According to the article, the iPhone 15 series is expected to have the following screen sizes:
- iPhone 15: 6.1 inches
- iPhone 15 Plus: 6.7 inches
- iPhone 15 Pro: 6.1 inches
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 6.7 inches
These screen sizes are said to be similar to the iPhone 14 counterparts.
Dynamic Island and Notch
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are rumored to feature the Dynamic Island, which was introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The Dynamic Island replaces the notch and offers dual cutouts for the camera and Face ID sensors. While this change won't affect the screen size, it may provide users with more screen space due to the smaller size of the Dynamic Island cutouts.
Curved Edges and Design Changes
There are rumors that the iPhone 15 series may have curved edges instead of the straight-edge design seen in previous models. While this change won't impact the screen size directly, it may affect the compatibility of cases designed for the iPhone 14.
Future Changes
The article briefly mentions rumors about potential changes in the iPhone 16 series. While the details are limited, there are suggestions that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max may see a small increase in size compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models. The exact size increase is uncertain, with different sources mentioning slight differences ranging from a couple of tenths of an inch to specific sizes like 6.2 inches and 6.8 inches.
Please note that the information provided is based on this article, and it's always a good idea to refer to official sources or Apple's announcements for the most accurate and up-to-date information on iPhone models.
