A Budget Friendly Farmhouse Friendsgiving + An Easy Pecan Pie Recipe (2024)

Happy Monday, friends! I’m SO excited about today’s post!!! I’m partnering with Walmart to bring you a colorful and fun budget friendly “Friendsgiving” table, plus a sneak at my parents’ farmhouse and a goof proof recipe for pecan pie! Each time I pass the Pioneer Woman’s Collection at Walmart I am literally stopped in my tracks by it. It virtually jumps off of the shelves at me with such beautiful colors and gorgeous patterns. It reminds me of a budget friendly version of Anthropologie that’s still high quality.

When Walmart asked me to put together a Friendsgiving table, I knew that this was finally my time to buy some Pioneer Woman pieces for myself and I all but sped off to claim them for my own! It was such a treat to style this layered table that’s perfect for Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving, or just your everyday special. It makes me so happy knowing that the look is very achievable and SO budget friendly, as each place setting is under $10!!! p.s. I’m also sharing the recipe for our easiest pecan pie…so if you’re here for the food…keep reading!

If you follow along on Instagram, you know that while we were in Louisiana two weeks ago, I finally got to see my parents’ finished farmhouse. As I was thinking of ideas for this post, I just kept seeing it set there (where we hope to have Thanksgiving as a family in the future).

Back story: My mom and dad bought this farmhouse and knew that it was a diamond in the rough. My mom had a vision from day one and seeing it come to fruition was so much fun to watch. I hope to share a full tour with you guys soon, but for now here’s a sneak at the front porch which might actually be my favorite space. They retained and restored this gorgeous original scalloped ceiling and painted it the most perfect shade of greenish blue (SW Topiary Tint).

Living far away from family, I know all about the importance of Friendsgiving. Most times, we aren’t able to make it home for Thanksgiving so we do end up celebrating in Charlotte with close friends. Friendsgiving feels much more casual and laid back and I love that.

Have you heard that saying “Friends are the frosting?” As in, family is amazing, but having great friends is really the icing on the cake of life. I don’t think that this could be more true and it kept coming to my mind as I was putting this post together. Leave the stuffy Thanksgiving and awkward conversation for the formal family gathering and have your friends over for a brunch or desserts only party on the porch, right?! Going with that, I decided to share an easy pecan pie recipe below that’s an amazing dessert to share with friends!

Can you get over the colors in this tableware? I adore the layered look and obviously the price. Also, just when I thought that it couldn’t get any better, they released THESE for Holiday and I must have them. I mean $54 for a 12 piece set?! Pretty amazing! What I love about the Pioneer Woman’s tableware collection (aside from the amazing price), is that you can buy it in 12 piece sets OR mix and match the plates from an open stock selection in stores. They all mix and match and it’s easy to create a cool and eclectic table setting that way as well!

The farmhouse sits on a fairly large pecan orchard that my Dad farms, so I like to think that we know a thing or two about pecans, which is why I wanted to share this easy and amazingly delicious pecan pie! There are only 3 (yes THREE) steps and I promise it’s always a crowd pleaser. Great to serve as a dessert with coffee among friends or the perfect take-along to bring to a Thanksgiving feast with family. Either way, top it with vanilla ice cream and you’re sure to be the hit of party!

This is my mom’s favorite pecan pie recipe and one that she’s passed down to us that’s pretty fool proof. She originally found it in an old church cookbook and has been using it as long as she can remember. It’s SO easy to put together and is pretty goof proof.

PECAN PIE

What you need:

3 eggs

1/2 c. sugar

1 c. Karo syrup (light)

1/8 tsp salt

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 c. butter

1 c. pecans

1 9” pie crust

Directions:

Beat eggs and add in next 5 ingredients. Place pecans on the bottom of the pie crust and pour liquid mixture on top. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.

That’s it y’all, 3 steps to a delicious pecan pie. The perfect dessert to bring over to a Friendsgiving or even a great hostess gift idea!

Here are all of my favorites from the Pioneer Woman collection available at Walmart! I spent a lot of time looking through all of these pieces, and used them myself and cannot tell you how truly impressed I was with them all. Great quality and design for the price and an inexpensive way to add some color and pattern to your Thanksgiving table.

If you want this look in time for your Thanksgiving, that’s completely achievable! Not only does Walmart have amazing shipping options, but they also have a buy online and pick up in store option, so that everything’s ready for you upon your arrival!

Speaking of Walmart, they re-stocked my favorite $30 flocked tree this year!!! It flew off of the shelves last year, so make sure to snag it quickly! There’s also a 4” option HERE.
